New laptop and a new problem (Solved of course)
Today I’ve got a new laptop (not really new, it was my dad’s and now is mine), and I was really happy because finally I’ve got a Compaq Presario V3000 laptop with a nvidia chipset (including a neat Geforce Go video card), something that for me, being a linux user is a great piece of hardware.
BUT, problems began when I installed ubuntu feisty, it all seemed to be good, but I didn’t notice that the soundcard wasn’t working at all, I tried using google to find a workaround or something but that didn’t help as nvidia decided to not develop their driver on linux anymore, they’re giving opensource alternatives on their website and that… obviously doesn’t work.
Then I found that ubuntu feisty had problems with that soundcard so I tried ubuntu dapper and the soundcard was working flawlessly! except because OSS was dead. So I thought that it would be a good idea to download ArchLinux again and install it, but when I rebooted on ubuntu feisty, the soundcard was working just like it did on dapper ¬¬.
A few minutes ago, I installed archlinux and the sound apparently wasn’t working and just when I was going to give up on it… I found the solution!!!.

I decided to give it a try and compile that version of alsa-driver (good ol’ configure, make, make install, can it get any easier?).
And now I’m going to enjoy my new laptop with Linux, just how it was supossed to be

Hi… I am glad that u have solve ur problem ^-^…and I have also another problem with the same computer. i bought this computer with windows vista it came with it)…. and it is always hanging+_+ I don’t know y but I think that the problem is from vista and I am thinking to change it to XP!! do u agree me on this or not!!

hi im using this laptop too.and seriously if ur using vista,u hv to upgrade your ram or else ur lappy will always hang and be really slow.now ive change bk to windows xp.and im happy!
